Petetrucker07 Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) Looking sharp Clayton!! What is that; about a 300" wheelbase? I'm planning on a similar wheelbase on my H model Mack that I'm building for the build off. Looking forward to seeing more!! No, it's not quite that long. It's about 240 inch. The COE really makes it look longer. Once I get almost done, I'll take a pic of it next my KW that's 305 inch. Thanks for the compliment. Lookin forward to seeing your build off truck. Tesla Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 This is good! Glad to see you back on this build.
Petetrucker07 Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 Thanks Dennis and Vic. It felt good to get something done on this. Maybe with the long weekends the next couple weeks I'll get more done.
Old Buckaroo Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Clayton - I have been hoping you would pull something out and start work.
Petetrucker07 Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 That makes two of us Sean. I'm hoping to get some time in the coming long weekends to.get more done. It was nice to feel like I was in a groove and getting some things figured out.
Petetrucker07 Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) Thanks man. Seems I got some motivation goin. I got some done today on this. I decided on the intake and exhaust system. I'm gonna use the Revell kit stacks, the Revell breathers and lids, but added some aluminum tubing to extend it upright, above the cab. I also sprayed on some CAT yellow on the 3406. Here's a taped up, mock up of the intake and exhaust. Edited December 26, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Old Buckaroo Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Looking good Clayton , I like the air intakes. Why is all the "Cat Yellow " spray paint glossy ? I have never seen a shiny cat yellow product.
Petetrucker07 Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) Thanks Sean. I hear ya on a dirty CAT. Kinda like a Detroit with no oil drippin. Edited December 26, 2015 by Petetrucker07
kilrathy10 Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) Oh yeah, that's gonna look good....I like this setup..... Edited December 26, 2015 by kilrathy10
Petetrucker07 Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 Thanks man. The hard part is gonna be connecting the intake and exhaust to the motor. I can tell already the plumbing is gonna tight fit.
kilrathy10 Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I saw one of these on the road about 2 weeks ago with this exhaust setup and all I could do was drool.....I couldn't get a shot of it, though.....It was on the other side of the freeway....
gatorincebu Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Clayton, Looks to me like you are back up to speed! I like what you have going on here. Be Well Gator
Petetrucker07 Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 Thanks Gator. I'm hopin this momentum keeps up.
gino Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I like that setup on the exhaust and breathers ! looks good !
Petetrucker07 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 Thanks. I've been wanting to do this setup for awhile now. Just haven't had the extra parts till now.
Petetrucker07 Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 I dusted this build off, started to check things. I discovered that there's a clearance issue with interior tub and the top of the motor. If I didn't have so many things going on personally, I would've tackled the problem. I instead changed my mind to the ol Detroit. Which in turn saves me a few more headaches. The exhaust will be much simpler, the intake will still be a project, but that's ok. The exhaust and intake setup is too cool, it's staying.
gatorincebu Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Hang in there Clayton , Things will get better. Looking forward to further updates on this project. Be Well Gator
purepmd Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Hey Clayton, First, I really am looking forward to seeing how you work over a C.O.E. Here is a little wheelbase tease. Some times the things that give you the most trouble, give you the most satisfaction overcoming those difficulties. No matter what, persevere. Edited March 9, 2016 by purepmd
