Harry P. Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 (edited) What do you say to this one? The answer: REAL! Edited March 14, 2008 by harrypri
ABC Auto Industry Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 It's real. I'm not sure if fine, powdery beach sand can be done in small scale.
Harry P. Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 It's real. I'm not sure if fine, powdery beach sand can be done in small scale. Ah, so you're ASSUMING that the stuff in the photo is "fine powdery beach sand"?
kevinm Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Real . No tire marks where the tires would cross the sand, but the head rests look really 3d. -kevin
Kenny Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I'm going with model. It just looks too clean to be real.
Clay Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I'm gonna say real, cause you can make out legs in the front rim.
camaroman Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 model!! looks like an r/c unit! a very well done unit!!
evilone Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 It's real. I'm not sure if fine, powdery beach sand can be done in small scale. im saying reall that sand looks real enough to me and like abc said i dont think you can duplicats beach sand in a small scale
Ronster Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I'm going with model. But very well done! If real, the fear of screwing up the paint would be too great to drive it!
sjordan Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 If it's really on beach sand, somebody sure cleaned the heck out of those tires just for the shot. However, manipulating the background is fair game here, so it could go either way. I'll go real due to the detail.
Nick F40 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 model!! looks like an r/c unit! a very well done unit!! If you mean the Baja 5B, this would have to be a full out upgraded one. I've never seen an RC like this, everything about it to me says real.
dodgefever Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I'm saying model; it may be a red herring but I can't see any lug nuts on the wheels.
plasticgas Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Stu, it could be a spindle mount and pin drive system. If this thing is real that the person or people who created it are very talented and that kind of system would be a cakewalk. Of course, if it's a model, all bets are off! Definately a fishy picture though. Clean tires, the sand has no tracks, though they could have cleaned them up for the pic, or Harry could have cleaned them. Yup, I'm definately, almost positively, sorta, kinda, maybe, possibly, going with, ummmmmmmmm, real.........maybe.
dodgefever Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 That did cross my mind, but on balance I thought spindle mount wheels on a dune buggy seemed odd. Then again, I have no interest in dune buggies, so what do I know?
Harry P. Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 Well, I managed to fool some of you, but most of you got it right: it's REAL! Next ROM coming Monday!
Nick F40 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 haha, now I can say it.........this was in my magazine, it is very nice to.
kevinm Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Lol! I was right! Can't wait for the next one!! -kevin
