Craig Irwin Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Two of the Roll's kits can be combined into a Phantom V , or at least a 50 % completed project!
sjordan2 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) It's been eons since I built the 300 SL roadster above, but just looking at it (in spite of the really bad wheels/tires), I can tell the windshield frame is far more accurate than the Italeri roadster (cabrio) kit in either 1/24 or 1/16, both of which have windshields that are too tall and too squared off in the upper corners. Otherwise, they're the best of all 300 SL kits. The roadster is very correct to the 1:1; however, Italeri based their gullwings on the roadster body, which has different fender proportions and wider grille opening, making the Italeri gullwings quite inaccurate. Tom Geiger Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) Funny thing, I had been looking for one of these and found it at the Super September Showdown in Gilbertsville, PA today. This is the Premier full kit with interior, glass and even an engine. I had a Hubley bag kit version which lacks the glass, engine and interior.Kit is really clean and I paid $45 for it. The Hubley one I was bidding on eBay last week went for $338. Edited September 13, 2015 by Tom Geiger

FordRodnKustom Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 WOW! Sharp build up. Thanks for adding it to this thread. Any plans for rear fender skirts for it?
sjordan2 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I have the Hubley issue of that Rolls. No mold misalignment in that oneNot surprised. Probably made from the first molds over 50 years ago. Mine is a fairly recent reissue, and I'd guess the molds are pretty worn.
