chunkypeanutbutter Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 One I had to nail down and finish over the summer. Continued, with details....
chunkypeanutbutter Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 Alright, the details. Base kit is the AMT/Ertl Chevy Street Machine kit. The dropped axle was abandoned in favor of a straight tube axle, but the tie rod seems to have fallen off in the pictures. Engine is a 427SS from the Monogram '37 Chevy sedan, the purple plastic issue. Rear end is stock, with Halibrands from the AMT Parts Pak wrapped with AMT Firestones from the Fruitwagon kit. Front wheels are what I believe to be AMT steelies, and the tires are from the Tamiya Lotus Super Seven. Headers were very badly and quickly made from Evergreen stock, and the mailbox scoop is from the Revell Pontiac engine parts pack. The paint, if you can see it, is Model Master Dark Green. It was then rusted with MM acrylic Rust paint in spots as a base, then Rustall and weathering powders for the final cover. How I did it was I put a healthy coat of Rustall liquid on first, then a brushful of powder. This makes a kind of paste which dries fast under a light. I used a wide, flat brush to paint the paste in a thin layer over the whole body. The interior was weathered with dirt and blackwash, pretty standard, so there are no pictures of that. So so there it is. One of the three I managed to finish and put in the case this summer.
