Hi All!  Does anyone have suggestions as to what I could use over Tamiya synthetic lacquers for a clear coat?  I've sprayed a car body with Tamiya Mica Blue, and I'd like to clear after applying decals; but the hobby store closest to me doesn't have Tamiya clear.  They have other Tamiya spray lacquers, just not clear.

Will Model Master clear lacquer work, or Danger! Danger, Will Robinson! ?

thanks!

I have used Model Master Ultra Gloss clear (from their factory color line) over Tamiya paint many times. Never had a problem. It doesn't hurt decals, either. It gives a really glossy finish and dries in an hour to hard shell.

I've used Testor Wet Look Clear over Tamiya silver lacquer no problem. I'm pretty sure I've also used Krylon Crystal Clear over it, too, but it takes quite a few coats of that stuff to get enough on to polish.

I've used Mr Hobby clear, called Mr Super Clear (Respectful people, those Japanese...) over Tamiya paint with absolutely no issues. I even used it over Tamiya Mica Blue without polishing required. A good thing since I had no interest in trying to polish an open race car trailer.

here is what I do... I always do a couple of test spoons ( the white plastic spoons ) I always let my primer and paint completely cure/gas out then try the next color/clear to watch for reaction and if I like the result.
