exesivefire Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 This one will be heavily inspired by this ride I found on Instagram a while ago. got a deal on a not so awesome AMT kit and away we go.. The real one has a two inch chop, so out came the razor saw I ended up just removing the rear portion, laying it forward a bit, and moving its location up a bit. mocked up on a parts box wheel and some lowrider dunlop tires. I think we are headed somewhere
DumpyDan Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I like this project, something a little different.
exesivefire Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 made some fatter rear tires up in between sanding and solvent setting..
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Cool project. How did you widen the tires and what did you start with?
exesivefire Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 Cool project. How did you widen the tires and what did you start with?Started with the tires from the Revell lowrider kits. Used an extra set of tires and sliced them down the center, leaving and extra rib on one side.
exesivefire Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) Also playing with the wheels since I have a couple extra that have seen better days Edited October 18, 2015 by exesivefire
GTJUNIOR Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) This is going to be way cool. Sort of a low rider rat rod. (The LowRat?) Edited October 18, 2015 by GTJUNIOR
Jon Cole Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Cool! Keep it going. Looking forward to completion.
exesivefire Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) This body is rough!! Spent a lot of time cleaning mold lines, scribing panel lines and general cleanup. I even had to split the front at a mold line and glue it back together it was so far off. I also removed the molded in wipers and the side emblems. Edited October 19, 2015 by exesivefire
exesivefire Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 The rear trim left a lot to be desired, so I built that back up
Davewilly Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 looking pretty cool so far. Cant wait to see some more on this one!
dogma3 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 thats gonna be SWEET when you get it done.....love it
62pyro Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 It's amazing how much work you put into a rat. Definitely seems to be worth it though.Kepp up the great building.
exesivefire Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 Haha, just cause it's cruddy doesn't mean it's not gonna get done right. sprayed a quick coat of primer to see where I am.. Have a lot of work to do. I also stated modifying the custom seats into some bomber style seats.
bobthehobbyguy Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Nice work. Glad to see back working on this.
62pyro Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I was wondering what happened to this.Looking good.
