lordairgtar Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Here is a cute one I just spied! And I am giving you front and rear views!!! Have fun! Andy I'll try this again. It's a Bond! Model might be the Equipe GT
duffer Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I'll try this again. It's a Bond! Model might be the Equipe GT Aye, and you're right about the Triumph Herald doors! The Equipe was based on Herald or Spitfire running gear, Herald doors, glass and scuttle. They also produced a straight 6 Vitesse version. My brother had one back in '76. He toured the whole of Europe in it (the fool)!
duffer Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 (edited) mine is this one. I'm guessing it's a Humber of some kind. It has Humber Sceptre lights, grill and screen. Edited June 10, 2008 by duffer
samdiego Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 (edited) Oh that would be perfect. Humber never occured to me which is odd considering that this sits on my tower. Hey! Across the pond! what's a scuttle? Edited June 11, 2008 by samdiego
CAL Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 (edited) I'm guessing it's a Humber of some kind. It has Humber Sceptre lights, grill and screen. nope, seriously guys I didn't think this one was going to be that hard. It's not a Humber, and it's not Russian. It was a production car and not a prototype of any kind. It does have a little hint in the body of the car the company is most well known for. Edited June 10, 2008 by CAL

lordairgtar Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Yuppers tha MIGHTY Lordairgitar NAILED IT. ......... Hey Zebulon, is that a Hussein Special in your sig?
duffer Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 ya got it! Pah...Sunbeam/Humber/Hillman. It's all 60s UK badge engineering! (bad loser mode)!
duffer Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 (edited) Hey! Across the pond! what's a scuttle? Sam, yep, I'm a limey. Can't think of the American equivalent for 'scuttle'! It's the front firewall/bulkhead but usually termed this when the car is a roadster eg. the firewall and screen surround is one unit. 'Scuttle shake' is a term used for a condition when a bad handling, flexible chassis allows the firewall and screen to twist and vibrate in relationship to the rest of the car. Do you have a similar name for this? Ahah...just found this: http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_...ticle731967.ece Edited June 11, 2008 by duffer
Guest zebm1 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 (edited) Yas GreggK, that's tha Mecom Hussein 1 - tha Fuel injection racer, care ta take a guess as to who tha Driver is? Ahh over on this side o' tha pond, ifn IRC, a scuttle has something to do with coal....I think it's what they used to call that wee bucket that they used to keep spare coal chunks in. Now how 'bout my Touring UDO? Edited June 11, 2008 by zebm1
samdiego Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Ahoy, Duffer! That would be called a "cowl" over here. I swear, you guys have a different word for everything, like it's a whole 'nother country or somethin'.
george 53 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Yes! Lordairgitar comes thru! The only thing I could see Sunbeam was the rear quarters, looked kinda like a Tiger, but other than that it was a surprise to me!Way to GO, L.A.G.!!!

I have tons and tons of reference material and I am sure I could find it but I don't have time. There were actually hundreds of different auto manufactureers during the teens operating at any one time. Come on Zeb! Spill. Andy
CAL Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Zeb's head must be getting bigger by the hour. I have tons and tons of reference material and I am sure I could find it but I don't have time. There were actually hundreds of different auto manufactureers during the teens operating at any one time. Come on Zeb! Spill. Andy I concur, there are literally dozens upon dozens of coachbuilders in the 10's and 20's and many of them look very similar. Anyone who was a horse and carriage builder just started to build coach works for whatever chassis the could get there hands on just to try and stay in business. it looks a little like a McLaughlin, Paige and a Zeber 2.0; I am sure it's some sort of esoteric car.

Yeah, but they were not the only ones who tried. a nameless Cosworth 4WD F1 car, but dubbed the ugliest car in F1.
JAFFA Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Ok, i dont know how difficult this one really is, but its nice enough to show!
CAL Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Ok, i dont know how difficult this one really is, but its nice enough to show! Sure is a scary looking beast.
Olle F Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Ok, i dont know how difficult this one really is, but its nice enough to show! So what's the question? What it is, or what it once was?
