Modelmartin Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Concept car is the LaSalle II. They also built a LaSalle II sedan if'n my memory is firing on enough synapses. I think they found chunks of it in the junkyard in Michigan and are attempting a resto. Andy I know Zeb has a whatzit trying to be IDed but I wanted to throw this one in. Andy
Guest zebm1 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) Actually it's tha 1955 Lasalle I, not tha II, but close enough............... And isn't this a neat concept car.... 1954 Oldsmobile F 88 Roadster Edited June 15, 2008 by zebm1

Andy It's a Doble Steam Car circa 1920-23
lordairgtar Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 How come I can't see any of the cars Zeb is posting? Is he yanking them off? I'd like to see the cars too, ya know!
Guest zebm1 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Are you going blind GreggK? I can see them, anyone else not see them?
Modelmartin Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 It's a Doble Steam Car circa 1920-23 I got to quit lobbing softballs at you guys! Doble production lasted longer (approx. '22 to '30) but they lost $50,000 on each of the roughly 3 dozen model D and E cars but they were magnificent. Andy
samdiego Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 I think we're caught up. I just found this in my inbox.
george 53 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Wow Sam, that IS sharp. This is a redundant question, but what is it? I know,I know.....
george 53 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Wow!, G.M.sure got their money's worth out the C-1 chassis din't they? But I gotta admit, I sure do like that Olds roadster! I've NEVER seen it, but it sure is neat lookin!
samdiego Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 I think all of the GM Divisions had a Vette based roadster concept around that time. GM thought they would detract from Corvette sales and glory and the projects were halted. Even in the 80's, the Cad and Buick two-seaters were kept in the Lux category and away from Vette territory.
george 53 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Sam, We used to do the finish build on the Cadillac Allante at my plant(Det/Hamtramk) And other than the price, I couldn't see nuthin that was luxury about em. They were built in Italy by Pinninfarina and they were JUNK! I personally used to bitch at the supervisores that we practically had to re-build em cas the dago's dint give a sh8t about fit an finish! After all, we were the competition!.Cadillac would have been light years ahead if they had been built inhouse,THEN they would have been built with CADILLAC PRIDE!!!!!
Guest zebm1 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Yeah, but George, wazn't GM already moving their production robots South o' tha Rio Grande Ribber?
george 53 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Zeb my man, I do believe they was up to no good BEFORE NAFTA was settled! I mean they did pay me well and provided a good living for me and my family,But I never trusted them to be honest with us.I did have the pleasure of meeting Pete Estes once in a walk thru of the old Fleetwood Plant,I actually got to speak with him for a few minutes, and he seemed to be a VERY reachable man. came thru the plant with about 4 other shirts and the plant manager, very low key,and VERY amiable,he actually stopped to talk with us, and at least ACTED like he was interested in what we had to say and was very supportive of the employees, the last "car" guy to run G.M. Years later, when the bastard roger smith came thru Det/Hamtramk,HE had to come thru with an entourage off about 20 men who were his personal guard staff! What a change.Tommy LaSorda, who now is a Chrysler president, USED to be my plant manager!Goes to show NONE of these guys after Pete Estes have ANY loyalty except tp themselves!Whoever pays the most gets their turncoat services!they don't care about the employees, the customer,or the product! only their own greedy a$$es!THATS why G.M. is so FU@#ed up now, theyre all accountants running it and no one in charge of it has ANY inkling of what it takes to BUILD a car!!!
lordairgtar Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Yeah George, too bad GM has to be run by bean counters and stuffed shirts. Little comfort to the fine folks who work at soon to be closed plants like the Chevy plant in Janesville. If through some magic confluence of eventts I got control of GM, I would bring the out sourced work back here. No reason they can't build stuff like the HHR in Janesville, Wisconsin instead of Mexico. I know things like Mega sized SUVs and trucks are on the down slide. Can't GM come up with economical vehicles to build in these plants?
george 53 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Greg, the real reason G.m. won't bring back production of ANY vehicles is,1 they can't get AMERICANS to do the a$$ bustin jobs that building a car entails for LESS than minimum wage,2 they don't have the same environmental safety laws down there as we do.Did you know the down there G.M. can discharge poluted and TOXIC waste water from thier paint shops out onto OPEN LAND? no need for cleaning the waste because MEXICAN LAWS DON"T REQUIRE IT!!!! They can pretty much do as they please and get awaywith it, mean while those poor people are EATING food grown in TOXIC soil!I HAVE SEEN IT!!They wont change till the laws do, then they'll threaten to leave an take their jobs with them unless they get exemptions! That's why they're in the sh8ts, cause they forgot what built the corperation,it's employees!!!Sorry about the rant, but I always get kinda upset when I see what management is allowed to get away with while the employees suffer, and the general public does too!
george 53 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack this thread, I just get so...... Ok can we try to figger out what the last UDO was?
samdiego Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) I can't figure it ou . . . oh wait, it's mine. NICK, come back it's complete anarchy in here! Edited June 17, 2008 by samdiego
george 53 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) SAm, I was thinkin the same thing.I think we (i) scared im off by goin spaz on here about the G.M. thing.Sorry, My Bad!!!! samdiego Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) In honor of Charlie Jones (random non-sequitor) I will be as generous as possible with my hints. I broke my personal rule about not posting one-offs just because of the effect this car had on my mid-section. It's not a Mclaren. It is stunning. Hint being that it's a one-off.
