So more pics of todays progress.

The clamps did their work to keep the cab and box body square and true............Look no gaps!

But when you look in from the top you see exactly how far the roof of the cab has to go inside the box body to make in straight and true....................

Test fitting the body to the chassis..............

Test fitting the roof (I will fix that when the doors are hung, just so I can get my fingers inside to do it) and the bonnet with grille................

26.JPG

Test fitting comes into it's own, this example shows where the nose of the bonnet needs a bit shaving off to fit closer to the front wings..............

More on monday as we are out shopping tomorrow to our one and only local model shop, that's only open on Sundays in December, I wonder why!

It's Monday, and more progress...........

Front lights, indicators, wipers and bumper..............

Rear lights, doors and a reversing light that can hardly be seen, and nerf bars. The other black painted plastic one shot across the cabin, never to be found again, so a piece of copper wire is suitably bent and stuck on.....

Test fit bonnet again....

Side indicator and mud flap......

Petrol cap, passenger door with 'glass' that took a lot of shaving to get in, both of them......

That is a really cool ( butt ugly ) little truck. You did a real nice job on the build.

I don't know that I would fit into one of those trucks, but I think it would make a great little surfari car for touring the west coast of France looking for waves.

Thanks Marc, they did make a 'Safari' car called the Mehari, superb for driving across the dunes with the sprung suspension they had!

They also used the chassis for a base to supply to 3rd World countries. They included patterns for the bodyshells to be made of plywood, to keep the price and maintenance down.
