the answer to why is simple it saparates them from the rest of us ppl

its like lowriders were in the 70's they were saparated from the hot rodders by putting switches on their cars

donk saparate from each other by having bigger rims then anyone else

OK, I'm down with different. BUT, Why don't they do trucks instead of cars? Trucks make more sense. The cars just aren't capable of being safe with those monster wheels.

Most of the trucks really are not safe either and have a lot of the same problems mentioned in the post above about the Monte Carlo, in fact many of the same techniques are used on the trucks. Inadequate axle strength, inadequate brakes, poor turning radius, jury rigged solutions etc. There is a big difference between a real trail ready 4x4 and the "monster" trucks you see on the street. About the only advantage to the jacked up trucks is they are usually built a little heavier to start with than a car. I have heard a lot of stories about lifted trucks losing wheels because they put 44" or larger tire on 1/2 ton axles that really can't take the stress of anything larger than about a 33" tire or so.

Low and slow, the jacked up trucks are being looked at, in fact they are what started the interest but the "donks" have the same issues, poor control and they bypass most of the side impact safety features of modern cars.

Not a fan of "donks", but if that's what someone wants to build, so be it.

To me, a "donk" with a nice paint job, is like putting ballet shoes on a hippopotumus. When you get done, It's still a big ugly thing that can't move.

I'm not into low riders either, but can appreciate the skills and work that go into them, and love seeing them, especially the paint jobs.

Tradionalist, I guess, but I echo...WHY?

Donk refers to the rather Large size of the Rear of the Late 50's to 70's cars, later was used more in reference to the Rear Leg Kickout of the Leaping Impala Badges... Recently it is now being incorrectly used for anything with Rims 20" or Larger, lifted or not....

Why a Lifted Car cause it= Something different, something people notice & talk about(good or bad its attention).... Sure a Lifted truck would be better, but in most areas, lifted truck= Redneck Hillbilly(Dang I'm included to in some instances :P) ...

Yes they ride like _____(You fill in the Blank), turn even worse,a school bus has a Better Braking Distance,is terrible on the Drivetrain & Powertrain, but who doesn't do something so that they are noticed by others???

Do I like Donks, no not really my thing, but can respect those that have put in the effort to make themselves different.... Personally I like Bigg Wheels, but I prefer to see them Tuckin' like nobody's business, with the frame Huggin' the Ground, as apposed to sky high!!

Trucks do look better lifted, but only if they are 4WD, and No higher than 2-4"s(Not including tires, only suspension and body, anything higher just makes it easier to roll over in a turn...) Especially a half ton, otherwise you may as well lift a 2digger, it would be just as effective....

Yeah, I agree, I never saw a lifted truck on 40's before, maybe a reason why, and I don't mean the tire.

and that's not a stereotype..................................riiight :)

well, I guess to some and most people that, whoever and it doen't matter, if you own a truck, your a redneck and I guess the reason they don't want to use trucks is that they don't want to deal with that. :):):)

Now THAT is sick! I would drive that! ;)
Me too, but I would re-install the upper control arm first.

Yes, I know it's part of the look.
