Repstock Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Is there a commonly available spray paint that approximates the Rockford Firebird Copper/Gold?
Bob Ellis Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I use Testors lacquer #1846 Pure Gold (oro puro) or Inca Gold (too light in my opinion on one of the models) on my '74, '73, 76 and '77s. I have heard the show painted the cars Copper Mist and then I have heard another color as well (Denver Gold). They kept painting the cars the same color so that the same recognizable car was seen by the audience. The last car a '78 was blue originally repainted to gold. They also used '70-73 Firebirds painted to the same gold color for crash scenes. If you are not too crazy about Testors lacquer gold, maybe Model Car World can mix some paint for you.
disabled modeler Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 You could also check out the spray touch-up paints at your local auto parts store.I wish I could find a 75 Firebird or TA to make a replica of one I use to own.
bbowser Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 If you watch carefully, sometimes you'll see different year cars in the same episode! I don't think color matching has to be all that exact.

They also did the same in other series like A-Team, Airwolf, Knight Rider and others
jefropas Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Firebird kits from 73-76 are muy expensive.... Jeff

jefropas Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Expensive as they may be, I may still plunk down the bucks, they just look GOOD to me... Jeff
