unclescott58 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 He bought 36 of them!!! He was a dealer, Harry. One my employers, a Buick dealer has purchased more cars than that at one time. And they're not a really that big of dealership. What makes this story important is Jellnik having them named the model after his daughter, Mercedes. The name became popular, and is of course still used to this day.
keyser Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 At that time and era, he was a distributor and a dealer. Not a lot of stops on that pipeline. Certainly not a lot of customers then for them new-fangled things. Always slays me around here when people complain about smart phones, social media, etc. They'd have told Gottlieb and Karl to stick to horses and trains. If you look closely you can barely make out a young Art Anderson in the background.
