Cpt Tuttle Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 For a challenge on a Swedish forum to build a model between christmas eve and new years eve. Starting with this Fresh from the box. Going to use slots on this one. Cowl induction scoop glued in placeGoing to try this colour-changing paint on this one.... not a disaster if it goes wrong on this model.
mikemodeler Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Will be watching this one. Should build up easy, I don't remember any big problems when I built one awhile back.
GTJUNIOR Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Curious as to how that paint job will turn out. I'll be following this one.
Len Woodruff Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I need to billed a 79 that is a replica of my real El Camino. Maybe this will give me the inspiration.
espo Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 That is a great kit and you should have a fun build. Can you tell me where you sourced the dished slot mags ? I need a set of staggered off set slots for a model I'm working on right now. I'm building a model of the '67 El Camino I bought new and added this style of wheel and Good Year Polyglass tires.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 AMT Studebaker Avanti, the current release IIRC.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Body in primerA quick spray with black on the chassis, good enough....The interior will be light grey, I think that it will look neutral and nice against the flipflop paint. Glued the engine together, will build it quite simple and fast since it's really no interesting engine....
espo Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Thank you for the info on the wheels. I just happen to have two of those kits sitting next to my work bench. Good thing they don't bite. I actually like the color of the primer you're using. I'm interested in how the "flip flop" paint turns out.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 25, 2015 Author Posted December 25, 2015 Paint on the body. Turned out really cool with the color-changing effect, but hard to catch in a picture.Flocking on the floor, detailed dash and door panels, and since the stock steering wheel is hideous, it got replaced with a S10 wheel.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 Front wheels detailed and mounted, front end lowered as much as possible, going to run stock height in the rear, I believe there will be the right amount of rake then.Interior finished and installed.Bed cover painted to match the interior.
gatorincebu Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 That is way cool ! Oh and you did catch a small bit of the color change in a photo. Oh and the rake ought to be cool. Be Well Gator
