Armornv Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Hiya folks! I did some searching through the forums here so I apologize in advance if I've completely missed it. I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, so I thought I'd ask.Are there any models in 25th scale (preferably larger but I don't see that happening) of any of the modern Trans Am series cars? TA, TA2 or TA3 mainly looking for the TA2 or TA3 style cars. I started watching some of the races from this year on youtube and kinda got a bit hooked on it. TA3 might be possible from a stock body with some effort, but thought I'd see if there are any out there already in kit form. Thanks gang!
afx Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Sadly the Trans Am series of any era has received very little attention from the model manufacturers. No modern T/A kits that I am aware of but as you mention that doesn't mean you can't build one.
Deathgoblin Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 It would probably involve combining a NASCAR kit with one of the current muscle cars, and maybe some of the racing kits like the Daytona Corvette C5-R or Rain-X/Hot Wheels Camaros. I'd like to see what you come up with.
Armornv Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 I had a feeling there wasn't anything. I don't ever remember seeing any. A shame really. What I would be able to come up with would probably be closer to a nightmare that haunts your dreams more than anything that resembles a race car lol! Thanks guys. I guess i'll keep thinking and looking for possible ideas for now.
Crazy Ed Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Clint there were 2 that I know of, Both were AMC Javelins. They were the '70 + '71 Penske/Donohue/Sunoco Cars. The '70 was from JO-HAN and the '71 from AMT (which I've heard was also via JO-HAN).
Dave Van Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) I WISH!! Last Trans Am kits were Revell Mustangs of the 1990's. That was a project of then product manager Bob Johnson. I built a IMSA Cougar from a test shot of the Revell street 1989 Cougar to try and get the bean counters to approve a IMSA/Trans Am version. It didn't happen and that was the end of modern Trans Am models. You could modify the Revell racing Corvette to TA specs but it's LOTS of work. I offered a few TA models a few years ago and mastered a Mustang TA body for Slixx. Edited December 24, 2015 by Dave Van
jrherald420 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Those resin kits are so hard to find......but one day i will own them....one day......
afx Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Some of the Japanese manufactures have issued Touring Car kits for the various series. The TC cars are similar to T/A cars. They may interest you.

Armornv Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Awesome, awesome, awesome. I'm kinda diggin the Javelins. I really like the two Revell Camaros. I knew you folks could scrounge something up! Never occurred to me to look at touring cars.... I'll have to take a look at that. Thanks again!
Crazy Ed Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Both of those are the '71 Kit. The difference being the '72 Woods Racing Livery on the Follmer Kit. Here's the '70 version
