TimJ Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 I haven't built one of these before but I've heard good things about it so I made a start on mine yesterday. So far progress has been rapid, the engine is finished and ready to be fitted once the chassis is painted. The body has had a coat of primer and a mock up shows it sitting nice and low, as it should be. I need to decide on a color next.
Eric Macleod Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 You are off to a great start. Could I suggest sort of a metallic root beer color?
maltsr Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Good start Tim. This kit goes together really well, you'll have it finished in no time!
retired & glad Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 That 55 Chevy in the background looks very good also.
ZTony8 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Eric-good suggestion for the color.I did my MPC Merc in root beer and bronze. It's a nice combination.
Olskoolrodder Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 I love those kits !Off to a great start, can't wait to see more
TimJ Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 I've made some more progress over the weekend. The underside and engine bay have been painted Ford Roman Bronze from a spray can. I've also used some 040'' evergreen strip to add some trim to the body. The plan is to paint the area below the trim gold and the rest bronze.
TimJ Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Its been a while since I did any work on the Merc but over the last few days the interior has been painted and assembled. I've also had a chance to get the body painted now that the weather has improved. So far I've been impressed by how well this kit has gone together. I can see myself getting another one.
gearhedjon Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Merc looks awesome. love the color combos
TimJ Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. I finished it last Saturday and I'm pleased with how it turned out. If only I could afford a full size version. I enjoyed building this kit and may have to get another one.
