Superpeterbilt Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Wow Brian, that chassis is looking top notch. That is some clean work, and it really pops with that paint on it. This old Mack is really taking shape now. Great work.
Tesla Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Nice work Brian, this is looking good! I like the green.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Thanks for all the comments and encouragement!!! Well, I tried making my first set of aluminum tanks. I have mixed feelings on how the first one turned out, but after two hours of hand polishing, I'm calling it finished. A look at the radiator shows why many H-63's have a cut out in the bumper.
gino Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 the tank looks awesome ! this truck looks great brian !
Old Buckaroo Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Brian - I am very impressed with how this truck looks so far. What will you use for the fuel tank straps BMF or some of that aluminum tape for duct work?

I have some chrome automotive tape that I've used before, but I'm considering green straps.
GearUpJammer Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Great work on the tanks and the truck is super sharp!
Canso65 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Everything looks great Brian. I think the first tank you have made turned out really nice.Forgive me for I am a newbie, but was the green used on the engine a standard color? Not that it matters much, I like how the green looks.Rob

DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Thanks for the comments guys!! Well, I tried making an aluminum visor today. I'm not happy with it and plan to make another, but you can get the idea. The metal that I'm using is very thin, and I got too many wrinkles in this one, and it doesn't fit exactly right.
gatorincebu Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I like the idea of the green straps . X's 2 i agree.I like the idea of the green straps . I think they would look really good ! Be Well Gator
Tesla Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 The tanks look absolutely fabulous! You're doing a fine job on this build.
72 Charger Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 The tanks look great . Can I ask how you did the dome in the end caps. Love the colour BTW
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 The tanks look great . Can I ask how you did the dome in the end caps. Love the colour BTWThe tank itself is sheet aluminum. The end caps are from the AMT K100 kit. Thanks for all the comments guys!!
10thumbs Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Hey Brian, WOW, the tank looks fantastic! This whole truck is really great, you're doing a fine job and it's fun checking in to see your progress.
BlackDragon Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 (edited) Outstanding! Brian, which rims and wheels do you use? They looking really great such like the whole truck. Edited March 19, 2016 by BlackDragon
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 Thanks for all the comments guys!!!Outstanding! Brian, which rims and wheels do you use? They looking really great such like the whole truck. The wheels are from KJ over at Double Take Replicas and the tires are from Moluminum Model Truck Parts.I've always likes regular two hole steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, and I wanted to do something different on a custom truck than aluminum wheels.
BlackDragon Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Thank you very much, i have already the five hole wheels from DTR here, must order this two holes. ;-)
landman Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Started some plumbing today. Nice work Brian. I have never attempted this before. I have been looking for schematics that I understand but so far all I found makes no sense. I supposed I could do something that looks plausible but Incorrect. But ir would make sense to do it right. Any suggestions other than taking an air brake maintenance course? Maybe just buy the manual?
