landman Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Did some "engineering" tonight. First figured a way to use the kit's wheel backs along with my Plaskit wheels. Started looking at fitment of various components. Cab's not bad. I'll have to either lower the rear or raise the front. Will have to perform some surgery on the doghouse to allow it to come over the rear of the engine. This is with the front raised. I think the lower position will be better. I dunno if I could go the Split ring rims....... The engine has Aluminum rims written all over it!!!!! LOLEDIT:I forgot to mention, I'm using the Revell Peterbilt for a Dodge L-700 build! I wanted the Revell kit, to supply rims and tires CHROME rims with matching tires, as well as twin-screw rears. for my Race team rig to haul the "Doomz Day" monster A100 around! -Among other parts I may use from that kit! -I'd almost kill to get my hands on the pipe and air cleaner from a AMT-Ertl International Transtar II Eagle tractor, to be used on my L-700. but I'm not sure thats gonna happen...... Dan I may come to you about installing the interior/firewall on this thing, at the risk of jeopardizing my eligibility in this competition by asking for help.

landman Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Cut off the platform at Old Buckaroo's suggestion. The cab sits better like this, thanks for the tip. Swapped the transmission for the one that was on the 8V71 I put in my engine shop dio. Added some small angle to the insides of the frame where the platform was removed. I have to either come up with a drive belt for the fan or stick an electric motor into it. I'm thinking of shortening the wheelbase a bit. I think I will thin out the grille casting to move the cab back a few millimeters. Looks like there is enough meat. Edited December 27, 2020 by landman

I have bought both the rod/tubing to do them Guitarsam style and the small phoenix hinges to do them with pre-assembled hinges. I want to practise with scrap plastic first.

Using some styrene and the air intake tubing of the Pete I'm attempting to bring a duct to the general location of the exterior cowl mounted filter. I was tempted to build a bracket and put the filter sideways on the engine but it wouldn't look right without its external filter Edited December 27, 2020 by landman
