imatt88 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) Hey all, Found this in my travels today. The owner was kind enough to let me get pics. I'm guessing by the split window, its pre-1953, but I don't know if the military markings are legit or not; Come to find out, the owner uses it in WW II reenactments...Way cool tho, I would love to own this.. Atmobil Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Cool looking bug but I doubt that it is really a wartime bug. It is probably quite old and as you say pre 53.If you have a lot of time: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=340552&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
CFMgarage Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I don't know if anyone really cares, but:The "Zsuzsi" writing is Hungarian (which is my native tongue, even though I moved to the US as a little kid), which means "Susie" but the rest of the writings on it are German, which I do not speak but I do know a lot of words and "Nutzlast" means "Payload" and I think "Leergew" is curb weight?So...I'd assume that, even though this doesn't look like a military bug, I think it was used to move between the two countries...which is pretty cool.
imatt88 Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Gergo,Thanks for the info. Its really cool. Its just old, and I like it.. Cheers, Ian
DrDevil72 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I actually know this vehicle (used to WWII Reenact a few years ago) as far as wartime bugs please feel free to ask. And to my Magyar friend, a lot of German WWII vehicles used Hungarian nicknames and phrases. Anyhow sorry folks for being a know-it-all.
stavanzer Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I like the Wehrmacht Lic plate in the front. If it were Luftwaffe it would read WL as the first letters. It looks old, but I agree that it's not THAT old. Nice looking bug though.
