STYRENE-SURFER Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 From the MPC Dodge Dart Sport kit. Can anyone shed some light on just what these tires are supposed to replicate? I did Google them, can't see anything similar.
STYRENE-SURFER Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 I can't find any tire on that link that shows the "HOLLEY M/T" on the sidewall.I'm thinking it is a fictitious tire that MPC included in the kit.
retired & glad Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 They look like a set of drag slicks that would be mounted on a set of rims and hauled to the drag strip in the trunk. When there, jack the rear up and put them on for racing. I had a set similar but I don't remember them having the Holley name on them.Richard
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) I've never seen a set of these tires in reality, but I do know Holley was at least marketing the M/T line by '69, and some of the cast alloy M/T valve covers from around that time have Mickey Thompson / Holley cast inside them. It's conceivable that Thompson's cheater slicks would have been rebranded too, so this isn't too far fetched. For those who don't know, "cheater" slicks were so named because they were just barely legal for street use in some locations, by virtue of having the grooves in the tread area.It was the DOT's tread requirement for street tires that was being cheated. Mr. Metallic Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 I have a set of these in my parts box. They are pretty nice, except for the exaggerated lettering. Hope to use them someday...
