Actually got to spend a few minutes at the model bench this week . And again concentrating of finishing some long stalled projects.

This one is the 1964 Dave Strickler driven Bill Jenkins tuned Hemi Dodge. I had painted this car nearly 2 years ago,,,After multiple issues painting the hood multiple times , I got disgusted and put it away.

Well that all changed when I found the can I used to paint it * its a duplicolor rattle can . So in the purple pond went the hood and I tried again, with much better results this time around.

Sprayed the hood, (thankfully it now matches the car ). Dug out some parts box pieces to throw a crossram  hemi 4 spd together . Plan is  work on it the next few weeks to get another one off the bench and in the case. On this one I put some spacers under the leaf springs and  I flipped the front spindles over and I really like the stance much better than the others I had built . , Just noticed I need to change the pedals to  reflect the 4 speed change.

Also, since these pics were taken I have since removed the vent window frames to reflect the actual car.

Comments more than welcome. And thanks for looking.

Yes, time to finish this one! It is looking really nice! Are those Cady decals?

Thanks , and yes they are Fred Cady decals . I bought them long ago to use on a Johan build that never happened.

For some reason the pictures make them look yellowed ,,but in reality they are not ( or if they are its very very slight)

Had a little  bench time this morning ,,before going out to shovel snow.

I have 2 pictures of the inside of this car, one shows a roll bar, one doesn't. So I  decided to add one , also changed the pedals to reflect the 4 speed change. Also got the engine wired up with a MAD distributor.  then did a test fit to make sure the headers clear the clear ( I think the headers are from the Revell 68 Charger kit ) . The molded in under hood wiring is just highlighted with a black sharpie, quick simple and easy .

If I am lucky this one will be done by the end of the week

Bill, is this the Lindberg kit?

Looking very good, I always liked their cars.

Michael

Yes, at least most of it.

The entire drivetrain is  from  the parts box ,,,,,maybe  68 Roadrunner  kit.? ( It needed it to be a 4 spd )  .  Headers I think are Revell 68/69 Charger.

My least favorite part of building is the BMF work, this one was no exception . But, I had some time to kill this afternoon. So I dug in a did what had to be done.

I also repainted and made some extensions for the headers and added the candy cane striping found on the 1/1

Should get the glass glued in this evening.. then starting final assy in the next few days .

plan is have it done this weekend

And my inspiration,

Always liked this pic, eyes glued to the tree, just leaving the line with the front shocks stretched  all the way out .Hammering on it hard .

....rare to see one hook that hard in 64 with the slicks back then,,,but that Jenkins prepped magic was scarier than voodoo.....lol....Bill, that piece of yours is going to be great once done......love it.....the Ace.....;)

Can't wait to see it done, big fan of the old Mopars!! I have a few of those stashed away and that would be a cool build.

Bill I'm with you on the BMF, but it sure turned out nice.  You're  doing a really fine job on this car.  I've never seen the stripes on the headers before, great attention to details.

OK, got a question. with the 1964 Hemi cars, they were factory delivered with Carter carbs. But it  wasnt far into the season a lot of racers switched to Holleys ( which is what Mopar went to for 1965 )

With this car still running under the same class # has the earlier 64 max wedge car ( #602 ) I assume its early in its life ,,,/ the season and the Carters would be correct ?

I've been able to find one and only one underhood picture of this car where Grumpy is working on it,,,and I'm pretty sure it has the Holleys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Bill, personally I think you're fine with the Holleys.  I believe too that early on,  the 2% cars were still S/S, as it was still kind of a secret.  You may get other opinions though.
