I thought the original sled looked sort of anemic (I had built one earlier), so I'm building a new one, and I'm much happier with the overall proportions now.

It may not look it, but some dark gray washes have had an affect. (I'm not real sure why the rear seat looks brownish, as it's the same RLM 02 like everything else.)

OK, back on this one again. Eduard provided four sets of engine instrumentation, but I'm reasonable sure that only the inboard side had the instruments, though the viewing windows are on both sides of the panels, as left and right side cowlings were interchangeable.

OK, some CA, some sanding and polishing, and I now have clear (and flush) viewing windows. Too bad the plastic provided is so thick, as the instruments certainly can't be read through them.

With cowlings now attached, I've gone ahead and added radiator assemblies. Fit here wasn't the best (probably my fault), but should certainly work out OK.

Well, photos don't lie, and this one tells me that I still have some work to do. I finally got better lighting, so was able to really go at touching up this IP. I thought it was looking pretty decent, but the photo says otherwise. I'm really hoping to get the fuselage zipped up in the next few weeks, with a finished target date of early September,... we'll see how that goes, I guess.

The majority of 110's that I've seen from this particular unit, had open E type spinners, so that's what I'm going with. Many feel that the earlier photo I posted, has been edited, for whatever reason, and that in fact, the spinners were open.

One thing that I find interesting about artistic renderings of known schemes, is the way two artists can depict the same airframe two completely different ways. Neither of the two color drawings I have pick up all of the subtle details of this photograph; one completely misses the yellow theater band on the fuselage, one misses the armored windscreen, one has the S on the fuselage as yellow, when it is clearly not, one depicts a closed spinner, one shows an extended tail, both miss the fact that the white area of the Balkenkreuz is a filthy color (probably grayish), and the differences continue.

The wing topside colors are still a mystery, but I'll take my best guess as to whether they were painted white or not, based upon whatever the majority of the other aircraft of the unit seemed to have done.

My books are of no specific help, but for the most part, it seems that if winter white was applied at all, it was also generally applied to wing uppers, so that's what I'll do.

Lookin' good Kevin!!! I like the airbrush set up you've got BTW.

P.S. I do that with the picture of a picture thing a lot. lol

I've been using that setup for years now, Joe. Quiet, all the pressure I'd ever need, no moisture, no pusation. What else could be better?

looks great kevin !

Thanks, Gino, I appreciate it.

If you can do WWII Luftwaffe camo, you're a better modeler than me.

I have the old Fujimi 1/50 Bf 110 kit. If/when I ever get around to building it, it'll be as an all-black night fighter. B)

It is a bit tricky but with a little practice it can be pulled off. It took me a loooong while to get it down. lol

I've been doing Luftwaffe stuff for years now, Snake, so I'm pretty comfortable with it. It's really not all that difficult.

You bet, Joe. Perhaps the worst/best job I ever did, was a 1:32 JG 54 Bf 109E-4, that was a real nightmare. I've done two winter white schemes so far (on aircraft), and both did real well in contests, so I'm fairy confident there.

You got a pic of it?

And here we go. Please keep in mind that this was built around 25 years ago (1991 or thereabouts), from the antiquated Hasegawa kit. I didn't re-scribe it or weather it too much, as I was just then seriously getting back into the hobby. I had originally stated this is an E-4, but it might well be an E-3, hard to say from this old 35mm image. I can't help but think I could do lots better now, and would use the wonderful Cyber Hobby 1:32 109E-4 as a basis.

I've seen that camo pattern before in my 109 Group Build I ran last year over at FSM. That is totally knarly right there! I can't imagine trying to pull that one off!!!!

I like that 234 as well. Nice worn effect on that one!!!!

Ironically enough, one of the best modelers in St Louis at that time (Ron Foulks, now deceased), did the exact same scheme at that exact same time, but in 1:48 (Tamiya kit) and just blew mine away.
