Its not an Aoshima kit actually, its a Beemax Model kit ,  Aoshima helps Beemax wtih distribution.

What is there looks good to me, but..  Is there a well detailed engine compartment, and only half an engine?

They probably figured people are going to put engines in them, so they did the engine compartment,  and the lower half is there for the ones that wont put a engine in it.
