Harry P. Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 The genius behind the Beatles' studio recordings has died at 90. He was far more involved in the Beatles' music than most people will ever know.
Snake45 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 The genius behind the Beatles' studio recordings has died at 90. He was far more involved in the Beatles' music than most people will ever know.Absolutely. He was as influential on musical style as, say, Phil Spector or Berry Gordy.
Harry P. Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 He also played on many of the Beatle's songs. Not many people know that. And he was also a composer. The strings on "Eleanor Rigby" are his composition.
PowerPlant Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 He also played on many of the Beatle's songs. Not many people know that. And he was also a composer. The strings on "Eleanor Rigby" are his composition. They did occasionally refer to him as the "fifth Beatle" in the media back in the day...
Lunajammer Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) They did occasionally refer to him as the "fifth Beatle" in the media back in the day...And rightfully so. They called Ringo the glue of the group, but George Martin was the glue of their recordings, gelling their musical thoughts. RIP. Edited March 9, 2016 by Lunajammer
madhorseman Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) He also played on many of the Beatle's songs. Not many people know that. And he was also a composer. The strings on "Eleanor Rigby" are his composition. He also put a lot of work into " Strawberry Fields Forever".Also listen to Cheap Trick's "ALL SHOOK UP" album that he produced, it has a BEATLE ESQUE sound to it. (not sure if I spelled that correctly) Edited March 10, 2016 by madhorseman
