angelo7 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Has somebody made a crane similar to this one in 1/25 scale? I want to put one in my flat bed trailer.
Tesla Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Angel,Italeri sells one... check out this Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntYJ2kHzFT4Another option is the one offered by KFS. Higher cost than the Italeri but very nice: http://www.kitformservices.com/tq.html Edited March 9, 2016 by Tesla
angelo7 Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Thanks Dennis!! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Just did a search for the Italeri one and found several for very good prices. Thanks again.Angel
Tesla Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 You're welcome. I have the Italeri unit mounted on a Pete...I know you'll be pleased with it.
gatorincebu Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Angel, Dennis is right . The Italeri crane is nice if a bit small for a trailer application. Though I had started a project just like that years ago. The KFS Crane is a larger heavier duty one. And KFS resin and photo etch stuff is top shelf. So I guess it would depend on what the trailer would be hauling. And also the length of the trailer.Have fun with the build. I will be looking for the thread. Be Well Gator
landman Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Angel, I happen to have both. Here's the partially built KFS I was going to use on my Dodge L700. After we decided it was too big for this application I purchased an Italeri, which I ended up using.
angelo7 Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) Thank you guys. Hey Pat, that Italeri one looks great. That's the one I just ordered , the Italeri one. It comes with other parts I can also use. Marc, I want it for this flat bed. I don't know if it is accurate, but I want to place the crane right in the middle. I just like the way it looks there. gatorincebu Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Angel, yes ,that would accurate to mount it in the middle. Another option is to have it slide on the rails. But I like your idea. And it isvery similar to what I started to do on a IMC fkatbed trailer. Which is shorter than the one you are building. The KFS crane is perfect for yours! :-) Be Well Gator
GLMFAA1 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I built this one years ago, totally scratch built, sits on a Mack R service truck model which is on a local dealer's conference table. greg
Intmd8r Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Has somebody made a crane similar to this one in 1/25 scale? I want to put one in my flat bed trailer. Does anyone know who built this model? I ask because I work at Palfinger North America headquarters, in Niagara Fall. This crane looks like the die cast models marketing imports from Austria, only those are mounted on European trucks. If this knuckle boom crane was not sourced from our die cast replicas, it would be the most accurate scale representation of our products that I've seen to date. The only issue I see with this model is that the crane would not be mounted in the bed normally. Not to mention the stabilizer jack look too short
Intmd8r Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 The KFS crane seems to be more accurate scale version of our current model range. The Italeri seems to be modelled after something made 20yrs ago or more. It also kind of looks like a mash up of Palfinger / Hiab / Fassi knuckle boom products. Guess it's a smart idea if you're trying to avoid copyrights.Just my $0.02.SC
angelo7 Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 Steve, this is how I found the photo on the net. You see at the bottom of the photo some info but when you go to that site I can not find this truck.
Intmd8r Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Now it makes sense. DHS is the company that does our die cast promotional trucks - the only company authorized to do so to my knowledge. Didn't know that you could purchase just the crane from them. Very pricey, but at the same time, it's perfectly accurate to the 1:1 from what I've seen.
angelo7 Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 It sure is pricey for that scale (1/50). Wish they had it in 1/25. I tried to build the one from Italeri but ended up in the trash can. Failed project.
