chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I'm desperately looking for a way to see if my dad's old Audi Coupe GT is still out there. I've been looking everywhere, and I can't find anything free. I've tried CarFax, but they charge: all they told me before asking for payment was that there were three reports - probably the first owner, my dad owning it, then whoever got it from him. Another site said there was no salvage title assigned to it, so that's some hope.I tried Lost Car Registry four years ago, but the site's inactive since then...Can anybody steer me anywhere, maybe in a PM if there's some kind of rule about this?
wrecker388 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Maybe try your local DMV? Put a listing on Craigslist? Other than that, I don't know. I hope somebody can help you better than I could.
1972coronet Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Those V.I.N./ registration search sites --including most states' motor vehicle departments-- only recognise 1981 & newer V.I.N.'s .
disabled modeler Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Miles.... I hope you can find it somehow.
MrObsessive Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Those V.I.N./ registration search sites --including most states' motor vehicle departments-- only recognise 1981 & newer V.I.N.'s . That is true. I'd tried using one of those sites a while back to track down my '69 AMX (I still know the V.I.N.#) to see what became of it. No dice.........the car's too old to be tracked using those.
Deathgoblin Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I'm not even going to bother trying to track down any of my previous cars. I know the Crown Vic and the Cadillac are both still out there being driven. Someone must have really put some money in the Caddy, it had a cracked head and the top end isn't supposed to be able to be rebuilt. Everything before those were junked. Both Escorts, the Dodge A100 van, the Monte Carlo and my beloved Skylark. Don't care about the stupid Volare.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 28, 2016 Author Posted March 28, 2016 Good thing is the Audi is an '84. I may have to pay to find it.
