What's the best way to paint parts that are molded in color ? I'm trying to paint something red over grey plastic and it seems to bleed through or darken the red. A while  back I was trying to paint a car that had white accents. The body was molded in green. I primed it with tamiya white primer and used a silver base but the green still bled through.

I've heard many times of people having this problem, & for the life of me, I can't figure out why.

I've never experienced it myself.

I guess plenty of primer would be my answer.

I usually use as many as 5 coats of primer & have never experienced any bleed through.

Kits molded in grey should not be a problem. If you use tamiya white primer it will keep your paint from darkening. I have been told about molded in green models by a friend.  The other choice on a green or red molded model is black primer..
