Yes .... It feels good to Join a community. like the one  here on MCM

i have been lookin around the forums .and was thinkin if i should join or not ...

but how could i not.. it seams to be a nice group (time will tell ,ha ha)

ok so here i am . who am i  my name is John Herbst .

born 1988 here in Very small Denmark.  but in my imagination im a Redneck homegrown good ol boy from the Deep south Usa Yeehaaw...ha ha  i mean i like Trucks muddin and Country music and so on . sorry bout that little side step ..

as far back as i remember my Dad and uncles have been Moddeling Cars. Trucks. tractors so i kinda grew up with it .my dad and his brothers were building 1:87 scale tho . good memories of me my dad and my lil brother playin on the kitchen table especially on sunday mornings when there was alot of bread crumps that we then could use bulldosers and wheel-loaders and trucks to haul away  ha ha ha  .... my dad did get me a few kits in different scales growing up plans boats and cars  but they are long gone and offcourse they werent very nicely done at that time didnt have the patience ..

so when i was in my early teens my dad dropped his 1:87 scale and sold it all he had then startet to collect 1:32 scale diecast Tractors some he even scratch build or some he just modded and ended up with more than a 1000 models. i absolutely loved being in his hobby/work room with tractors from floor to cealing . but the 2 year ago he had to sell them all when he had a divorce . so sad ...

in my teens not alot of hobby stuff going on had better things to do i guess .  the as i was about 20, or so i startet gettin in to Rc cars i build alot of Drift cars painted alot of lexan bodys over 50 in just a few years. and also competed even won some trophys drifting . i then tryed some Scale modelling with Rc Trail trucks  and i still have two 1:10 rc trail trucks now but i rarely drive then anymore (not much fun alone ).

i need hobby to have a release from stress of everyday life .and i enjoy building things. so been thinking what to start doing now and many years to come . i want my own version of my dads tractor room  from back then  just with cars and trucks and a few oddball things along the way . ill build anything if it interest me ..

sooo yes i am just gettin ready now for the first build. gathering tools and materiels to get going. really looking forward to it and talking to your guys .i will probably need some tips. that im sure you will share no Problem .

im exited .  got offered some old kits today and as i was about to buy my first kit anyway i bought the old ones instead in all total 9 old kits in a box . cant wait to check them out when they arrive .

anyway this was a way too long presentation of me hope you dident fall asleep.

glad to be here and cant wait to talk to some of you . with freindly regards      Danish sprue Wrangler

Welcome to the forum, John. I did drive across Denmark a long time ago (in 1968) on the way to Gothenburg. Sounds good growing up in a modeling family as my Dad got me started while working on a few ships he got for me one Christmas. His was spectacular, but the one is all he ever did. Me, I never stopped, except for a long break as many have in or youth.

thank you im ready to play . im the Poor kid with the Least toys in the sandbox at the moment .ha ha

Don't be so sure about that. Some of us have to save every month so that we can get 1 or 2  new kits for the year. Being at the Southern end of Africa makes online shopping very expensive due to crazy shipping charges and good hobby stores are very scarce and not particularly cheap. However, We persevere and build what we can.

sorry GTJUNIOR . i think you took it a little to litterally .  Ramfins59  said welcome to the playground so i joked (as if we where kids in a sandbox ) that i as the newest member and not having build any kits yet was the poorest (if riches was measured in kits ) but i dident mean money just toys . i know Theres alot of people who dosent have much around the world ... anyway just a misunderstanding  humor and sarcasm can be hard to put in writing as its most likely different from the person reading it . dident have any malicious intend..

No hard feelings. We are all here because we share a common interest. Sarcasm and humour can often be misinterpreted and I obviously misinterpreted your post. No harm, no foul. Once again, welcome and happy modelling.

Welcome John!

I hope you'll be like a lot of us here & will be embarking on a long & addictive life long hobby.

I'm anxious to see those "old kits" you picked up.

I build a lot of vintage kits & it's always a blast to see what others have.

Hopefully you picked up some real gems! ;)

Well John, anything pre-80s would pretty much be classified as vintage in my book.

Especially being as the model car hobby didn't really even start until 1958! ^_^

I get into the kits mostly from the 50s & 60s, but as a some of the guys on this forum will tell you, there's a lot of rare & desirable kits post 70s as well.

Looking forward to seeing them.
