JTalmage Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) I've been wanting to build a few "show rods" lately, and our club here has that as a monthly theme later this year.. and I have 2 of these kits and decided to bust one out. I really liked the styling and design of this car. However what I didnt like, is the fact the front and rear roll pans are clunky looking once installed. So I started by molding them in and getting them cleaned up. Going to end up painting it Tamiya bright orange over white primer to let the orange really pop vs being over a gray primer. But I need to use some gray filler primer first to fill in some gaps and imperfections. I also am filling in the gas door as well after a botched scribe job. I had to use a piece of thin evergreen here to make the pan even on both sides. Otherwise the taillight hole is not symmetrical on both sides. The bricks that came w/ the 50 ford convertible "customizing" series kit are the best things ever! Edited August 10, 2016 by JTalmage
cobraman Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I always liked that kit. Good luck with your project.
Snake45 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Very nice! Have you reworked the rear wheel openings, too? I think on mine they're round/radiused.

Snake45 Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I have a Bad Actor kit... I never noticed. I'll have to take a look.I never noticed either. I just know that mine has round openings, and I don't think they're a good fit with the rest of the car (at least not what I have planned for it) and am planning to change them.
JTalmage Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Finally got a paint job on this thing! After working a lot of hours and not so good weather, I finally had a chance to do something with it. here it is bare orange with no detail. It looks more red without clear. Here it is with decals, foil, and clear. Looks much more orange. I haven't polished this thing either. I may not. It looks pretty good. Still a good bit of work left to do.

geemoney Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 i totally forgot about SR two!!!!!your build looks good!
JTalmage Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 A few pictures of it aaaaalmost done. Turning out ok. Not real happy about the spaz stix on the front air splitters. That stuff seems to make glue joints weaker. But I should have scraped it first so my fault. I did a light wetsand and buff to it also. Still a little bit of detailing and finishing up to do before it goes under glass.
JTalmage Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 Just finished it tonight. Will post it under glass tomorrow.
Davewilly Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 looking good! I need to get me one or two more of them and do some different versions of them....Wish they made a stock version of it!
