afx Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Great looking car Jason. I think the Corvair is under appreciated, I love their look.
Jon Cole Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Clean, & well maintained. Your '65 is sweet looking.I owned four 'vairs. A daily driver '65 Monza 110HP auto 4-door in maroon w/ wires & tri spinners. A '61 Greenbriar that was kind enough to make it it to my house before it died. A '63 Spyder Coupe that just had a full mechanical resto. My plan was to do the body. And, the sad little early model Monza that was found in an animal barn. No floor. They should have carted me off in a straight jacket. Eventually became a parts car. We almost set the chicken barn on fire trying to get it to run. We were throwing frozen chunks of snow at the engine to knock down the flames.Ahhh! Good times!
ToyLvr Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Thanks for all the comments! So on to the questions, I will not be at NNL it's kind of to far away for me. I can't remember the color I painted it cause I painted it about 9 years ago and stuck it back in the box. As for the convertible models. Toylvr is right on the late model cars being hardtops only in model form. And someone did offer a resin boot. But this boot came in the kit. And they even offer the boot in the latest release of the corvair kit. Now about the center mount four barrel not working well.. I got a 65 Monza with a 140 4 speed. It has the four barrel setup and works very well! Even in 30℉ temps. I have a 450 cfm Holley on it, Clark's stinger exhaust setup, unknown cam, AMC Comp Cam 1.6 roller tip rockers, deep finned pan and finned valve covers. Its a very fun car!judging by the photos you posted of your 1:1 Corvair, I'd say that your carburetor and induction system has been "tweaked" quite a bit as compared to what we had to work with back in the day. ? So, if your 4-bbl set-up works well for you, my hat's off to you. The ones I worked on 30+ years ago weren't worth #%*&. It's a gorgeous car you got there!I'll have to dig up and post the photos of my mid-engined V-8 Corvair that I used to have.....
mrindy77 Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Cute Corvair...in looking at your engine compartment it appears you forgot the radiator.
Sixties Sam Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Very nice model and full scale 'Vairs! My first car (in 1970) was a 65 Corvair convertible. Four-carb 140 engine with the crummy Powerglide AT. I built a model of it back then and rebuilt it a few years ago. I cut the top off a coupe to make it. I added a resin uptop from Modelhaus in the rebuild. Here's a pic.
