good job so far DSW!

lifted trucks is what i like to build & am of the opinion anything can have 2 axles & a t-case slung under it. :D

what kind of lift? as in real life, jeeps (short wheelbase) are a pain to jack high. have you thought about using the susp from one of the amt 1/32 snapfast monster trucks? they work fine on 1/25 body's, just trim to fit. wheelbase would prob be perfect or close for a jeep

hey Dan thanks.  that looks great what you did there on the rebody .I'm totally new to 1:25 scale building cars so dident know about the monsters you mention but ill surly keep those in mind for future lifted trucks I'm going to build. I absolutely love lifted trucks so I have a few I want to do.

I dont know yet what kind of lift it will be on the jeep . I guess it will be a backyard lift with some good old redneck ingenuity .

no really was just thinkin of extending everything that's already there. makin longer dampers and some kind of extension to where the leafsprings mount . and maybe some reinforcements . to beef it up

Posted (edited)

Here is the progress . for now

cut the mounts for the leafs of the chassis

DSC_1695_zpsrf7srepj.jpg

and cut some ´lifting blocks

glued them in

and then mounts back on

then i made some longer dampers

from q-tips and broom.s hair .

complete just need to be cut to right length

and the chassis repaintet with the lift blocks

I like how this is coming along. Most of us just tried to copy the box for out first builds but you've really stepped outside the box! I like your color choices and especially the "dirt" on the frame ... it gives just the right "used" look to it. All in all you're doing a great job! :)

thank you Mike . gotta say  there is times where I think I should have stayed with a box stock . but then again I want to learn and the best way is just to try. and see what works. but I have had some problems especially today . but I got it straightend out to the best of my abilities .

glad you like it .

got some more done . I am really having fun building this little jeep. but also finding out what works or not. and problem solving along the way

axels and suspension on . as you can see here I needed to move the rear axle underneath the leafs to get the clearance I needed

then I made some Hubs to finally connect the wheels to the axles

wheels mounted up .

looks Beast ... ha ha

then I did some detailing on the interior

added racing seats and tried to make belts for the driver.  The passenger just gets a Hold ON !!! handle

that's it for now .

oh no I also made a new front window glass as I cut the center beam out .no pic tho.

Looking good, but I think that little 4 cylinder engine is gonna need a turbo or nitrous! Make sure you get the power steering hooked up, those tires are huge!

Ha Ha..... yes it should really have a V8 . but gotta work with what we ´got.

i guess its geared really low for now . and power steering is a must

Looking good, but looks to me like the rear tires are going to catch on the rear edge of the wheel arches. You might consider opening up the back of the rear wheel arches a bit.

hey Tony .  they dont catch when its just sitting but if it had real suspension it would . i have thought about making the arch bigger but then my over fenders would be ruined  . i have to think about that and see if i want to risk it ..
