Lizard Racing
I find it interesting that Smokey's gone and so is the garage and most of the hardware. We're still talking about him and trying to figure out what he was REALLY doing (or hiding).Like him or not, you have to admire his genius. bismarck
I remember reading the article about the debut of his SCCA Camaro at the Daytona track. The Fords were out qualifying that day, and he rolls up and wants to make a few runs. The Tech inspectors pounced all over the car, The pit guy told Smokey " There's too much wrong with this car to list." Well Smoke told him, "Well add one more thing to your ##**"!! list!!", dropped the fuel cell out on the ground, and drove back to his shop!!! A little while later, he drove back and picked his fuel cell back up. He had used aircraft grade quick disconnect fittings on the fuel cell for easy install/ removal. He had driven back to his shop on the other side of town with only the gas in the oversized fuel lines on the car!! Ya gotta love the guy for having the stones to pull a stunt like that!!! A Tech inspectors worst nightmare!! LOL!!
DrKerry
I know there was a lot of controversy towards him but he was an innovator and a darned good one!!!! The ideas he had were good ones...
oldcarfan
He was way ahead of his time. Somet of the things he did became standard practice later on and a lot of the rest were things others were already doing, they just hadn't been caught.
