Psychographic Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Can you decant this type of paint? I would rather use an airbrush. I get a heavy hand when I spray right of the can.TimWhy not buy it in a bottle? It seems a waste of money to pay spray can prices just to run it though an airbrush.
dustym Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 (edited) Didn't know its in a bottle, I just assumed it was only in a spray can. Ill have to check it out. thanks for the reply. wow 10 years and I still don't have over 200 posts. I must real be slow. LOL I do lurk daily though. Edited October 8, 2016 by dustym
misterNNL Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I found rattle cans of the spax stix gloss black and ultimate chrome in a LHS that handles RC stuff. As they never thought of using it on the Outside of anyhing they had no clue as to what primer I should use Under it.They did tell me that I must use water base clear Over it or it will dull the chrome to an aluminum finish within minutes. What rattle can primer(black?)and clear would you suggest I use? Thanks in advance for your expert advice.Harry I love your Rolls shooting brake.Beautifully done!
Dann Tier Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) I can't seem to get that wicked shine that Harry gets, but I get close. My chrome turns out to be more of a polished aluminum with a hint of a brushed aluminum look. Harry, do you polish the black before applying your spaz stix? Or is your trick in rubbing the spaz stix at all? When I spray my Spaz Stix it is way too dull.. then I handle it and it shines up, but will rub thru easily.I know you asked Harry, but couldn't refuse responding. I think the Spaz is WAY better than the Alclad. I use Tamiya gloss black spray, let it dry for a half hour, then spray on the Spaz. I hold the can 12 inches away, and dust it on. You may feel like it will dry-spray, but it wont. I do one more dusting the same way, and it looks great. On rare occasion, my gloss black didn't seem glossy enough, I added a coat of Tamiya gloss clear, and then the Spaz -it looked just as good. I've never had to polish or rub it out. JTalmage Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Interesting. I'll try a dusting coat instead of a moderate coat.
Dann Tier Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Interesting. I'll try a dusting coat instead of a moderate coat.It works really good for me, but seems to waste a lot. Also, forgot to mention that you need to make sure the spray tip is pushed all the way down as well. it has a funky pressure to it, almost like a ndouble trigger. hope this helps!
Dann Tier Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Sorry about the poor photo quality. Sorry I got off track on your topic, that does look like a great job with that fussy Alclad. keep up the great work!!
