oldcarfan Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I guess my hands aren't as steady as they were a couple of years ago. I used to use pen point Sharpies to outline certain features and never had a problem. I tried it last weekend and messed up to fairly decent paint jobs. Does any one know of a water based alternative or at least one that can be wiped off if (when) I mess up?
Snake45 Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Sharpie comes right off with rubbing alcohol. Unfortunately, so does the Testors Lacquers and some other paints. But you can take Sharpie off enamels with rubbing alcohol.
oldcarfan Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 I messed up a Duplicolor and also a Testor's base in the same day. The Sharpie bonded with the paint and nothing would touch it. I'm gonna start searching for a water base fine tip or something.
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 If there's not too much of it, you could always use a little mildly abrasive polish to remove it.Something along the lines of Novus "fine scratch remover" should take it right off.Either that, or if it's just a color coat waiting for clear, a little light sanding will take care of it.
