Is there a better alternative to Sharpies?

I guess my hands aren't as steady as they were a couple of years ago. I used to use pen point Sharpies to outline certain features and never had a problem. I tried it last weekend and messed up to fairly decent paint jobs. Does any one know of a water based alternative or at least one that can be wiped off if (when) I mess up?

Sharpie comes right off with rubbing alcohol. Unfortunately, so does the Testors Lacquers and some other paints. But you can take Sharpie off enamels with rubbing alcohol.

I messed up a Duplicolor and also a Testor's base in the same day. The Sharpie bonded with the paint and nothing would touch it. I'm gonna start searching for a water base fine tip or something.

If there's not too much of it, you could always use a little mildly abrasive polish to remove it.

Something along the lines of Novus "fine scratch remover" should take it right off.

Either that, or if it's just a color coat waiting for clear, a little light sanding will take care of it.
