I've awesome color plans for the Chaparral 2C, should be killerz!

The Ferrari 712 is a Volki kit which is for sh$% to the max!

Notice the pencil line in the middle?  That's were I'm gonna cut her and widen the body as it looks way way off.  I'm also gonna shave off about an 1/8" off the bottom, totally horrid body!  I'm kit bashing it with a full detail Hasegawa Ferrari 642 which I got for 5 buks!

I'm finding myself most happy building when I got several kits in the pipeline.  My brain likes this.

Two of my favorite racecars!

I've always been a Chaparral fan.  Jim Hall took on the best in the world with a backyard special; and beat them.

The poor 712 could have been a McLaren beater if the factory gave it any support.  They went to all the trouble (and expense) of building such a car, then just let it go.

have fun.

   Hi There Brian

A couple of interesting projects to be sure! I'm not to sure just how much the Ferrari 642 is going to be able to contribute to the 712 build. Choppin' up one of the Heller/Testors/Union 512S's might have more to offer.

Hmm, that's a very good idea, but hey, 5 buks is 5 buks.  I do have a 512 set aside for a Ferrari 612P kit bash that's planned as well.  But for some reason I wish to do the 712 first.

Is the body fiberglass?  Doesn't really look like resin.

That's a good question.  Its a slot kit, unsure what it is.

Here it is upside down, what is it?

Yea that is fiberglass.  Not sure what would bond to it if you decide the widen the body.  Ace-Garageguy has experience with fiberglass.  I would check with him.

Ok cool, thanks for the tip.

I'd imagine CA glue or 5 min Epoxy would work?

i have a  ford p68  slot car body kit by Volki,   definitly fiberglass.   i'm  kinda  amazed  that  a model kit body can be made with fiberglass and still have some details.  but quality not so great.

Not sure these would work if you are planning on sectioning the body but I have no experience with fiberglass bodies.
