slusher Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Remember you can order Tamiya paint from ebay if your hobby shop doesn't have it and get Tamiya primer at hobby lobby and use the 40 percent off coupon.

JerseeJerry55 Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) It's coming along nicely , all I would add is keep it fun on this first one . try not to get bogged down with doing everything "right" . build it , ask questions you want answers to , and then when you're done assess the job you did and decide where you want to improve . good luck !Thanks. Did what I believe is the last bit of work on the pillar flashing. Did some sanding stick scuffing will shoot one more light coating of primer then shoot the engine compartment in flat black. After that I have an idea how to avoid taping off the engine compartment. Shoot the underside of the hood (after priming it) then after the paint dries I put the hood in place and paint the body. Thoughts? Edited May 31, 2016 by JerseeJerry55 Can't spell

What is the maximum % of humidity to shoot lacquer without having issues?ThanksJerry

Remember to get the side of the hood painted and remember every piece of the kit has a mold line. A quick scuff with a sanding stick right after you cut it from the tree is usually all that is needed. Some of this is trial and error. Everyone has their own way of doing things. I have just been doing what I think is right and so far there are 3 or 4 things I will do in a different order next time. You will find what works for you. Look at everything, come up with a plan. At the end of the build see what worked and what didn't. Make changes to the plan for your next build.

Final primer shot to B pillars (posts?), and taped off upper fender so I could paint the engine bay black. Coming along well I suppose. I'd like to thank whoever created the solo cup.
JerseeJerry55 Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 First time using a lacquer paint. First of all much heavier scent than enamel. Dries quickly. Like it a lot.

There's a slight rough area on the roof after spraying the T-19. Any thoughts on how to get that smoother. Not panicking because I'm sure some one has an answer. Thanks.

JerseeJerry55 Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 I guess it may have orange peeled a slight bit. Sanded the rough areas. Will wait a few days to reshoot the T19 as Mr. Humidity is out and about. Actually it was okay to take the chance so I did. I think it's coming along well.
