Couldn't edit to add: The car Mr. and Mrs. Ruffin were gassing up was a dark blue '50 Ford convertible with a tan top - we found paperwork for that too but I didn't get the chance to scan it.

I also have a mailed repair bill for a 1920s  Model T I could share...   unless this is a total bore to you guys!

Love the stamps and postcards you posted. Something I have been getting more interested in. How do you protect or display the stamps.?.

Carl, if you want to get into auto-related stamps, the US has put out a lot of cool ones, like these:

You can buy a 3-ring binder and blank album pages from Mystic Stamp Company, and create your own page layouts.

The best place to start shopping for stamps like these is ebay.

Harry is right, I just bought a bunch of 3 ring binders at Staples. You can buy blank album pages or design your own on your computer and print them on 110lb card stock.  Where it gets a bit expensive is buying mounts.

For starters I recommend keeping stamps in a stockbook.   Hobby Lobby sells a decent stock book for around $10 if you use your 40% off coupon.

Here's the album Hobby Lobby sells.  There are 10 rows of glassine on each page to put stamps onto.  Note that this is one I use for my model car decals.... when hobbies collide!    Hobby Lobby also sells a similar black page that goes in a 3 ring binder. They are 5 in a pack for $4.99,  and you can subtract 40% off that if you use your magic coupon.

ultra pro pages

Right now I'm building a US stamp collection in these pages.  Dealers sell this type of page for 3/$1.00 or much cheaper if you buy a full box or more.  Here's how my pages look right now...

albumpage3

Here's a page from my album.  I like to have some larger pieces like plate number blocks and covers (envelopes) in my collection so this works good for me.  The white page inside the clear plastic page is 110lb bond stock I run through my printer.  I cut it into two 5x7 pieces which fit in the pages.

Lately I've been spending more time organizing the stamps than working on models.

valiant sign

My largest sign... look at the  white Chrysler parked on the street, then look above it. I had a copy of that Valiant sign. The darn thing is like six feet long and I have both sides. One side is good, and the other side was faded and someone painted the Valiant name over. That side also has a small corner broken off.  It's stored up in the eaves of my garage at my New Jersey house.  It's soooo big I've never had anywhere to display it.  My goal is someday to wall mount the good one with lights behind it.

Oh, the back story...  I bought it probably 25 years ago at the Englishtown NJ Raceway Park Swap Meet. The seller had it there and wanted $500 for the pair.  I tried to buy the good side only for $200 and he wouldn't budge.  By late on Sunday, I walked by and he had $150 marked on the pair!  So I offered him $100 and he took it.   I bought it quickly because I wanted it... only once I took ownership did it occur to me that we had no way to get it home.  My buddy and I had driven my 1973 Barracuda to the show.  We got the signs out to the car and there was no way to do anything with it at all.  So we rolled down all the windows, fed it sideways through the side (it still stuck out at least a foot on either side) and crawled under it. We drove home the entire way with the signs on our heads and each holding onto it with one arm.  Fortunately it was only a half hour drive on backroads!

I was just at the local HL yesterday, and they had some cool automotive stuff that I'd not seen there before. All reproductions and new stuff of course, but pretty cool anyway.

They do have a lot of cool decorator items.  You could do up an entire automotive theme restaurant in one visit!   And they have much more of that stuff than Hobby stuff.  And don't forget your 40% off coupon.

I'm confused by this, I'm taking about Hobby Lobby. When you said they, who were you referring to, Tom?

Yea, Hobby Lobby.... their name is confusing since they have more "other" things than hobby items.
