MrObsessive Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Very nice! Great that you're using the Johan body with the AMT guts. Johan's body is a MUCH better rendition of that B-Body Mopar than what AMT did. They're just getting harder and harder to come by.
Ron Hamilton Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 That is a very nice build of one of my favorite drag cars. I have a dilapidated JoHan ;69 RR that I was going to scrap. Looking at this one made me change my mind.
caine440 Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Glass is in and now just checking the fit of the body and bumper.
ProStreetOnTheStrip Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Looking great. The only car model that I can recall building that was similar, was a silver and red job, but the name of the driver eludes me right now.Was it Dick Landy??
Roadrunner Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Was it Dick Landy??I believe it was, yes. Thanks. Dodge Dart perhaps? My memory is fuzzy on that point. (I could just Google it I guess.)
Snake45 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I believe it was, yes. Thanks. Dodge Dart perhaps? My memory is fuzzy on that point. (I could just Google it I guess.)Landy ran Chargers, Coronets, Darts, and Challengers in his signature (from 1968) Red/Blue/Silver scheme. He ran Dodge clinics and was to Dodge what S&M were to Plymouth.
caine440 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 I have to fix the upper corners on the winshield as it pulled away a little and I missed that. I have a 68 Coronet that someday will become a Dick Landy car.
Snake45 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I have to fix the upper corners on the winshield as it pulled away a little and I missed that. I have a 68 Coronet that someday will become a Dick Landy car. I was attempting to do that very thing with my original MPC '68 Coronet back in the day. But I stuffed up the candy red on the sides, and never got back to it, and it got lost to time. I have a Modelhaus repop on order. Won't do it as Landy's, though--I'll do it as a stocker. I still want to do a Landy car but it will be the '68 Dart, and possibly the Charger.

He ran Dodge clinics and was to Dodge what S&M were to Plymouth. I seem to recall that it was a Dart. I always like that silver and red combination.
slusher Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Glass is in and now just checking the fit of the body and bumper. Looking sweet.
