Hello all,

I'm new to the forum; as a kid trying to build models, I never did complete any of my kits(8 or so) that I recall having at the time. Now as an adult I'm determined to do so as I have more interest in the hobby not to mention I discovered I'm pretty good with the detailing! Anyway, I'm having trouble identifying part #16 from the Chevelle SS 454 kit from amt. It looks to be an aftermarket style e-coil or a magneto? Perhaps a tachometer distributor? I'm doing a custom build & would like to know what it is exactly so I can use it properly. Attached is a photo of the part. Thanks in advance guys.

Looks like a magneto to me. Which in case you don't know, would replace the distributor on many cars. Mainly used in racing. Four plug wires would come out one side. The other four, the other side.

Cool thanks for the info unclescott58. I did contact round2 as well to see what they identified it as. Aside from customer support telling me to discard it since its not in the instructions, they said it is a fuel pump?

Niiiice thanks Ace-Garageguy. With a little modification I guess it can be made into a magneto as well however it does more closely resemble the pump as the pictures show. I don't think I'll be using it for this build as I'm shooting for a pro-touring vehicle.

Thanks,

Ruben
