crowe-t Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) Hi, Does anyone make tires in the correct diameter for the Polar Lights Ecto-1?I'm currently combining a Polar Lights Ecto-1 and a Jo-Han 1964 Cadillac Deville to make a 1964 Cadillac Ambulance. I'll be using different wheel covers(1966 Cadillac). The openings of the tires that come with the Polar Lights Ecto-1 are too large to fit 1/25 scale wheels. The wheels that come with the kit are very crude and the axle just plugs into the back. The tires from the Jo-Han 1964 Cadillac Deville are overall smaller in diameter. Are the tires from the AMT Ecto-1 the same as what comes with the Polar Lights Ecto-t?Thanks,Mike. crowe-t Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 I'm just bumping this thread in case someone missed it. I'm looking for replacement tires that will fit an Ecto-1 kit. The Ecto-1 tires are about 30 mm in diameter (tall).I'm looking for tires roughly 29 - 30 mm tall that will fit regular 1/25 scale wheels.
dodge5522 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 I might have a set ill look tomorrow do they look like this
crowe-t Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 Jason, Those look OK.The tires that came in the Polar Lights Ecto-1 have very large wheel openings. Maybe the AMT Ecto-1A tires have a smaller 1/25 scale wheel opening.Let me know what you find and send me a PM.Mike.
dimaxion Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) IIRC , the Caddies used for Ambulance Service Conversions used 9.00 X 15 Wheel/Tire Combos . The '64 Caddies used 8.00 X 14 Wheel/Tire Combos . The kits do not have modified wheel openings , Polar Lights nor AMT Ertl version . The latter (AMT - and first Movie Car) kit had some Tire / Wheel combo from left field (IMHO Trash for my needs) being NASCAR (early '70's) Speedway tires ?? Modelhaus did offer a conversion . The Model pictured here seems right as I used one of these for this Circa 1959 Ambulance . I spent 17 months fixing the roof for this to be right . http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn57/hawk548/Emergency Vehicles/1959 caddy Ambulance_zpsons0vp5i.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn57/hawk548/Emergency Vehicles/59 Cadd Ambulance_zpsgyyvjm3d.jpg The lower picture you've posted is a Snapshot of the Movie Car (1:1) . For a '64 use larger Tires than the JoHan Kit . Monogram Wide Whites perhaps . Edited August 15, 2016 by dimaxion Insert PIcs
