Superpeterbilt Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 My 10 year old cousin Ben has been wanting to build models since he came to our local model club show. I bought him a few snap kits, first a Pete 352, and then a 1/25 KW if he did well on the Pete. I helped him along since this was his first, but he did most of the work. I tought him to sand off all of the part seams, sand the tire tread, and how to test fit everything and cut off locating pins if the parts dont align. This is a snap kit, but we glued it all together just to assure tight fitting parts, and no gaps etc. We did this in a few hours, and there is still a little more detail work that Im going to do with him when he comes back to visit, like darkening the grill, painting the roof lights amber, etc. The lowboy isma new ray 1/32 that we painted to match the truck. I told him I would post it here and he was very excited.

Tesla Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Awesome build Ben!! It's good to see a younger generation expressing an interest in the hobby.
towman1271 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Great looking pete.. Hope you keep him interested..I agree with Dennis, that its great to see young ones interested in building instead of staring at a video game or phone all day
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Great looking build! I believe I was about 10 when I started building. My builds at 10 were box stock though, without any added color, not nearly as nice as this.
Ack! Ack-ack! Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Well done! Without junior modelers modeling will become a dwindling hobby (I am afraid it already is ...).
Apriliadan Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 You done good, get him started on the second model.
