Monty Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 IIRC, Revell offered the '90-'92 Cougars in 1/25 scale. From what I've seen, they're not all that expensive and might provide a better "stock" chassis for the Mk VII Lincoln.
Dave Van Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Great project. IIRC back when this Lincoln was announced the folks at RM figured it was a way to get another kit out of that chassis and give modelers a start on the Lincoln.

From what I've seen, they're not all that expensive and might provide a better "stock" chassis for the Mk VII Lincoln. I'm not up on my Ford history, but the Cougar (along with the T-Bird) was all new for '89 and I believe the Mark VII (1984-92) still used the older T-Bird chassis ('83-'87). The Mark VIII was all new for '93, and that's when it was built on the newer T-Bird/Cougar platform. Monogram made a '87 T-Bird and while it's 1/24, it seems to me it'd be more accurate for the car he wants to do.You Ford guys out there, can you vouch for this?
MarvinGardens Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 The Lincoln MKVII is based on the FOX platform Ford started using in 1978 (under the Grenada and Zephyr), while the MKVIII is based on the MN12 (in Lincoln-speak the FN-10) of 89-97 Cougar/Thunderbird origins. So, to use the MN12 chassis under a FOX car = NOPE to accurate chassis. Through the years, there have been some FOX kits in 1/25th that could be used, or even the later SN95 chassis (since she's just a stretched FOX anyway) for a closr-to-accurate MKVII chassis.
