This is not a political statement, so PLEASE refrain from making ANY comments that could be construed as "political" in nature.

This is simply a news item, and some of you may want to do your own research on the matter.

One easy way to get started understanding the news item is to simply copy and paste the title of this post in to your browser.

This is also not a joke.

I have no clue what this stuff is, but according to the Snopes website the reclassification has been rescinded at least temporarily.

http://www.snopes.com/atf-reclassifies-wetted-nitrocellulose/

Don't know if Snopes is valid or not either, just the first thing that came up when I searched the topic title.

This site also says the same thing.

http://www.guns.com/2016/09/01/atf-pumps-brakes-on-wetted-nitrocellulose-reclassification/

Again, I have no clue what if any these sites have for agendas.

Not anti gun, not a gun nut either. :o:D

How does effect my model building? Is it something I really need to worry about?

This is the "off topic" section, uncle. Not necessarily ANYTHING to do with model-building. Model-related is in "general", remember?

And no, YOU probably don't need to worry about it. SOME of us DO need to stay informed on related issues, however.  :D

As I understand it the materials (know as gun cotton)  is used in the production of ammunition.

The new regulations when (not if) pass will make it difficult for manufactures to produce ammunition in calibers smaller than .50 to continue production.

Impacts will be that ammunition for Military and Civilian use will become "unobtainable" with the Military having first pick. This is due to the contracts that the manufacturers have with the goverment.

Did I stay "Nonpolitical"  enough?

Oh I'm okay with the topic. And it in right place. I'm just looking for away to relate to it. ?

If you're not into guns or shooting, then you don't need to "relate" to this at all. Kind of like a thread about any kind of sportsball to me. B)

Can this stuff be used in blowing up stuff? I use to blow up model cars. So this maybe a link to model car building.

Smokeless gunpowder isn't explosive at all. It will burn spectacularly, but it doesn't explode. So, no, there's nothing for you to see here. B)
