Lizard Racing Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 I just started on this project. I plan a mid-60s example of a gasser. As something different, I wanted to use the Stovebolt Six engine instead of the Big Block V8. I didn't want the old crash transmission, so I removed the B&M Hydrostick from the big block and grafted onto the six. Se the pix below. Right now I plan to use three Weber carbs for the intake. Not exactly a low-buck gasser, but that topic is open for now. Any suggestions? Before: And after:
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) Cool project. I'm liking your idea of using the old trusty six with the B&M Hydro Stick. Just in case you don't already know, the AMT '51 Chevy kits and the Galaxie '48 Chevy kits have some unusual speed equipment for the inline engine. The Wayne 12-port head with fuel-injection is pretty exotic... ...built for the slightly larger GMC version of the engine. Edited September 7, 2016 by Ace-Garageguy
Lizard Racing Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 Here's an update: I'm building for the G/G class, reserved for flatheads, straight sixes, etc with factory heads. Engine LH side; single 4 bbl carb; kit exhaust manifolds and scratch-built pipes. engine RH side (excuse photo); magneto ignition; no generator. Interior: basically kit with buckets; added instrument cluster, extinguisher and belts Frame: I haven't decided on wheels yet. Right now stock wheels on the front and parts box NASCAR wheels on the back. I think the slicks are a bit too wide for this application, so I'm looking for replacements. Thanks for looking. I'm about ready for body work and final assembly. I welcome and comments/suggestions.
DrKerry Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Looking good so far!!!! Been wanting to start one of these myself!!!!
