landman Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Almost a year ago I bought four European engines on eBay, from Greece actually. With the help of the folks here, I identified them Posted 19 Dec 2015 (edited) · Report post I have acquired four Euro engines on eBay. I have ID'd them up to a point. Can anyone tell me the power rating of those engines? Mercedes Actros (Italeri 715) Mercedes OM, looks like a 502LA MAN 26.321 (Italeri 756) DAF 2800 (Italeri 781) I started on the MAN . Added some plumbing. It will likely go on display in my engine shop dio. It will be shown without a transmission. Haven't decided on the gear or a flywheel image yet.
bigred63 Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Nice, I like what you are doing. I remember building the M.A.N. model. It is a 3axle dual drive tractor cabover.
landman Posted October 13, 2016 Author Posted October 13, 2016 Nice, I like what you are doing. I remember building the M.A.N. model. It is a 3axle dual drive tractor cabover. Thanks Ronnie. Seeing that you are in Germany and may be familiar with them, what color are MAN engines. According to the photos I could find they appear to be red.
bigred63 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Hi Pat, I went to a M.A.N. work shop and asked, the mechanic told me, that engines are not painted. The Oil pan is powder coated black, and the rest is plain metal, that comes out of the factory. I will continue to get more info for you.
landman Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 Thanks Ronnie. I'll keep that in mind. Meanwhile, this one arrived at the shop red. Maybe it had been repainted during a previous rebuild. Any way, here it is.
gatorincebu Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Pat, Your motor looks good even if it is painted. I love all the detail that you are putting into your shop dio ! Be Well Gator
Superpeterbilt Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Nice work pat. The diorama is the real deal.
landman Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 (edited) Thanks guys. Just received an answer from Joachim Ketz of MAN Corporate Communications in Munich, and he more or less back up what Ronnie said above: It is siver matte with black valve covers . Might be of help to those doing Italeri models. Edited October 17, 2016 by landman
