Dogfish_7 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 My hat is off to you for all the difficult additions to the 3 motors. They are a great Tribute to a great Car company.

landman Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 (edited) Looking at the R5, I compared some of the kit's features with the real thing. The induction parts can be made to look fairly accurate. The supercharger drive assembly is a whole 'nother story. Edited December 24, 2020 by landman
landman Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) Printed the picture above to get the layout of the belts and idlers correctly. Also made the supercharger mounting plates. The model has two belts with the idlers at the bottom while the real thing has three belts with one idler higher. Started on the idler tensioning springs Edited December 24, 2020 by landman
landman Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 (edited) Added some details to the fuel block/throttle body. Mounted the superchargers and the ductwork using the kit's belt & pulley assembly to get the location right. The supercharger intake of the kit is way smaller and narrower that the real one. To be correct it would have to be scratchbuilt. Started adding the pulleys and idler to attemptto replicate the layout of the 1:1. Easier said than done. Edited December 24, 2020 by landman
espo Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Beautiful engine display. You should be complemented on your efforts in the accuracy of the engine builds.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 I love engines, especially obscure or unusual engines, and I really enjoy seeing people take the time and put in the effort to try to get the details right. Very nice work, and your wrinkle-paint is probably the most believable it's possible to achieve in this scale.
landman Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 (edited) Adding belts, one pulley at a time. Edited December 24, 2020 by landman
