Jon Haigwood Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I am not extremely acknowledged in drag engines but I am assuming the units on the water inlet/outlets are some type of flush connections to introduce cool water after a run. If not please school me on their use. May be something I might want to use on a future build, Thanks
Daddyfink Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 This is a Street Hemi and the outlets are most likely quick connects used for testing on the Dyno.
Fat Brian Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Those are hydraulic quick connect fittings rigged together with some rubber hose pieces and hose clamps. I can't speak to whether this is a temporary or permanent setup but it would allow an external water source to be quickly installed and removed with a minimum of mess, it's actually a pretty ingenious idea.
Daddyfink Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Here is a Nitro 426 Hemi from an early top fuel car. Notice the water necks on the front of the cylinder heads. That is how water was added to the engine. Eventually, as race only blocks where developed, water was no longer used.
