Hi guys, I'm looking at dis-assembling and reworking a resin built model. How easy or difficult is working with resin? This will be a first for me. I want to take this resin Willys truck apart and paint it to match my Father-in-laws truck. Thanks, Geno.

Mike, it's listed as resin on American Excellence's website.

According to American Excellence, that is a BoS model, and in looking at BoS's website, they do not list any models as being cast in resin--only diecast.

To answer the original question, it may be very difficult.  Resin is typically glued together with epoxy or super glue.  Regular modelling glue will not work with resin.  I have had very little luck separating plastic when glued together with either of these and resin is much more brittle than plastic.  Others may have a different experience, but that is mine.

That Model appears Very inexpensive to be a complete resin model in that scale. Reworking a model Resin, or Otherwise. Would likely come down to how well it was assembled initially. The differences in Resin to Styrene are cosiderable but not  unmanageable IMHO.
