Cpt Tuttle Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Old AMT Scirocco used as a basisEngineInterior...still lacking the backseat though.Nice and shiny paint!Found those nice rims in the parts bin.....the tyres however are from a Tamiya Honda CRX to get a low enough profile.
stitchdup Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Cool, I think this could be the first build of this kit I've seen. I like your colour choices too, like something from the h2o show n shine
Dogfish_7 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 You sure aren't letting the cold weather hold you back!
Monty Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Looks like you chose a great color. Would you mind telling us what it is (ex: Tamiya #TS-35, Testors #1237 etc)
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 8, 2016 Author Posted December 8, 2016 Some automotive touch up paint....i think that it may be Chrysler "Deep coral red" (Paint code PVJ).
DumpyDan Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Looks good so far, glad your painting out side in the winter. I do it all the time in the winter at -30
kelson Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Looks good so far.i'm on the fence about whether I want to buy this kit,any fit issues so far?.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 9, 2016 Author Posted December 9, 2016 Nothing a little file, sandpaper and CA glue won't fix... Detail painted the grille.....black VW badge like on the Rabbit GTi, just like I want it.Blacked out taillamps and matte black panel behind them, bit of a 90s tuner look, maybe a quite big oval tailpipe would look best? The rims does fit like a glove!Moved the bumpers more flush to the body and shortened the ends for a slimmer look.
dw1603 Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Really loved the Sciirroco until I took a 15km ride in the back of one. Hitched a lift home in a Toyota Carina. Still think the Sci Roccet out-cools a Golf (Rabbit). Love what you are doing here.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 10, 2016 Author Posted December 10, 2016 Most of the time I hate doing engine bays, I usually glue the hood shut.....and just throw in the engine there straight from the box. However, it was fun for some reason on this model!I have detailed a bit more, but I'll show that tomorrow.A very light white wash toned down the chrome on the headlights. Hardly noticeable but still more realistic. I don't want any fogged headlamps like on a rusty Ford Mondeo, after all....and yes, I'm going to fix the areas that is accidentaly painted black.Painted the hood too. Don't know why I didn't do it earlier to be honest....
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 Did some more detailing under the hood. There was no brake master cylinder so I took one out of the parts bin. Also, I added battery cables and a vaccuum hose to the brake booster. Painted the sound insulation under the hood, something I've never thought of before. A car like this can't have a dorky little peashooter for the exhaust, but it turned out that one of the pipes from a '05 300C could be adapted to fit. Not bad!
