Nice work, looks like a cool project. Can't wait to see it done! I'd love to get my hands on one of those old dodge kits and build it like the real one my dad had in the 80s.

Dan I had thought as it was to be an ex forces truck having a second life on a farm . It would have different colour panels that the farmer had to replace to keep it going . Maybe some primer here and there with rust showing through. I do have a green that would be close to Park ranger green so who knows

John, ebay seller "hoppersbazaar" sells that grille in white resin. You'd still have to chrome it, but you won't have to kill for it :).

LOL I'll have to look into that one!!!! Thanks man! Pricey? Yes/No?

Not a bad idea!!!! A little different, yes, but practical!

Frank, Sadly,. thats not the same grille!  -The ebay listing is for a '75 - '76 Dodge truck, the one in the truck model pictured here, is a '72 - '73!!!!

Sorry for my mistake, John! I didn't realize the grilles changed after '73:(

After a few hours sanding refilling and more sanding the roof is done . Also I have added a new drip rail with plastic rod. Hopefully I should be able to get it reprimed tomorrow if its not to cold. Let me know what you think :)

Thanks Mark the roof was a pain to get flat . I'm sure there will be some final finishing once its primed .

I am sure it was Dave...I need to make a replica of one of these like one my dad owned once...going to be loads of bodywork and part hunting.  His was a early 70s 3/4 ton 2wd long bed.

Posted (edited)

Yeah its taken 2 years for me to find a long bed . If the cuts are good on the doors then the only major body work is the roof and B pillers

I understand that one Dave...been looking for parts to make mine for years now.  Dont forget the rear doors rear facing wing windows on it...your making great progress with it.  I still have to find a few parts for my project yet...

bed...gate and Dodge gate decal.. bumpers...taillights and trim for them...long bed 2wd chassis...grille...bench seat interior tub and 3/4 ton wheels and tires so I have a long way to go yet.

I'm missing the tail gate Dodge decal but as it will be an Ex forestry/farm truck I doubt it would of had that decal on there anyway

I have to put the rear facing wing window in yet. I'm still trying to find some square rod for that

If you want I could send you a grill if your after a 78 ? Send me a PM if you want

Yeah Frank,

'70 -'71 had very similar grilles! then '72 - '73 had the same grille in that blue Dodge truck (posted on page 2), then '74 to '76 had similar grilles, and '77 and '78 has the same grille, and then '79 and into '80 had same grille, different headlight set ups.... Late '79 got a completely different hood too! That carried on for quite some time into the '80's....
