Darren B Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 (edited) I have had this build in my mind for years, and have been gathering bits and pieces for it and decided to at least get a thread going for it that I can add to as I go.... Dia De Los Muertos or day of the dead that is celebrated in Mexico and other South American cities as well as here in the states. Going to have a feel for that on this build using the Tijuana Taxi and the Boot Hill express but just the main body of the express as a casket... So I have 3 other main builds going on and now this one... Will add as I have updates... opening up the back doors, will make a half door out of screen or some type of material first of the mods.... 426-Hemi Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Darren,That body and frame look a bit interesting to say the least a LOT could be done with! Can't wait to see where ya go with it!
Darren B Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 Getting some pieces molded for this build and a few for the Egyptian raider....
JTalmage Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Seems like a pretty cool idea so far! When I saw your thread title, I instantly thought of this song

Darren B Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) got a little work done, gonna eliminate the chicken coop off of the roof, will have a bunch of luggage for the roof however, never liked that feature anyway, may add it to the coffin trailer buit will see. Have finally gotten the back doors open ready for some kind of door work... Edited January 3, 2017 by Darren B
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Cool. Great start. Looking forward to more.
Darren B Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 Cool. Great start. Looking forward to more.Thank you, hope to have more soon, getting more enthusiasm as I see it go along. Â
Darren B Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 Â had this for a while that came from a necklace, its on the large size but hoping to either use over the radiator or have it on the build somewhere.
Darren B Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Back Door idea... got the holes filled for the chicken coop Like I said before really did not like that feature at least for the roof.... Also looking at adding hydraulics and wire wheels, looking at lowering the rear suspension location points as well, I like the look of it sitting flat on the ground instead of the huge rake the stock taxi has.... I know its supposed to be a rod but I like to low ride rides.... Edited January 11, 2017 by Darren B
Darren B Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 getting rid of and cleaning up the old fake looking curtains for the hearse trailer.
426-Hemi Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 NIICE!!!!! Darren, what color of red/orange are you using on these parts? I'm asking because I'm liking the "shade" that it is! one time it looks like a Redish orange and another time it looks like a slightly lighter Orange. And then in your last pics its more red then orange. interesting color!
Darren B Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 John, the colors in the pics so far is the plastic they came molded in. The tijuana taxi is the lighter orange and the parts from the boot hill express are the redder/orange. But so far just the stock plastic.
426-Hemi Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Darren,That plastic then is so consistent its not funny! (IF thats not the camera making it look that way!) As that looked "sprayed" on!
slusher Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Another very cool build you have going Darren!!!!
Darren B Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 Darren,That plastic then is so consistent its not funny! (IF thats not the camera making it look that way!) As that looked "sprayed" on!It is also much more brittle plastic as well...
Darren B Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 Another very cool build you have going Darren!!!!Thank you Carl.
Darren B Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 getting the doors fitted, may hinge them may not... got the ride height a little closer to my liking....
Darren B Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 cut off the rear thingy thing that holds the axle in order to raise it up to level out the ride...may extend it a bit to add the full hydraulic suspension with batteries and the full nine yards, working on that in my mind thou...
426-Hemi Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Old kit I take it? A lot of times I find that the older kits the plastic gets brittle..... AND or if it has been stripped several times, it gets brittle from it too!

AND or if it has been stripped several times, it gets brittle from it too!John, the taxi is the reissued from 2009, however the boot hill is the original issue which was hard at first to actually begin hacking away at it, even thou that one has been reissued a lot, never really like the kit, but hung on to it knowing I would always use it as a trailer. Never a fan of the show rod but it is coming in handy right now.
